Describe Beowulf's demise.  Then, explain what you think led to that demise and what theme can be learned from it.

Beowulf, at an old age, fights a fire-breathing dragon in a tower.   He ends up killing the dragon, but dies himself because of the fire.  I think he wasn't' properly prepared to fight this beast.  His armor melted and was brittle and old, and he was also old, not having fought any creature since he became king.   He believed since he was Beowulf he would kill the dragon-which he did- and keep on living his life as a hero-which he didn't.  The lesson in this is that you should know what you are up against, and properly prepare for it.
